Pretzel roll and Leberkäse burger

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 onion(s), red
  • 4 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp mustard, sweet
  • 1 tbsp mustard, hot
  • 4 tbsp fried onions
  • 2 tbsp Gouda, grated
  • 4 slices of Leberkäse
  • 4 pretzels
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Preheat oven to 170°C top/bottom heat (gas mark 2 and fan oven 150°C). Peel the onion and slice it thinly. Mix the sour cream with both types of mustard, the fried onions, and Gouda cheese, and season with salt and pepper. Place the Leberkäse slices on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, spread the onion slices and sour cream mixture on top. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, halve the pretzel rolls and add them to the oven 4 minutes before the end of the baking time. Then top the rolls with the Leberkäse.
