Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 red cabbage
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 200 ml balsamic vinegar or wine vinegar
  • 80 g sugar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cloves
  • 10 peppercorns
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 25 minutes

American recipe, very tasty

Heat the vinegar with sugar, bay leaves, cloves, and peppercorns in a saucepan and reduce by about half. Grate the cabbage and onion, add the hot vinegar through a sieve, season with salt if desired, add the oil, and let it steep for about 1 hour.
