Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
With mixed pickles
Halve the sausage lengthwise, then cut into slices crosswise and fry slowly in a pan with oil until the slices are nicely browned. Then add the diced onions and finely chopped garlic and sauté for a while. Add the tomato paste and fry it too so that it loses its acidity. Now add the mixed pickles (chop the cucumbers and any overly large pieces into smaller pieces!) and fry them. Deglaze with the tomatoes. Then immediately add the ketchup and sugar and bring to a boil. Add the chilies and thyme and simmer everything for about 2 minutes. Add the cream and stir in. Season to taste with pepper and a little more sugar if desired. We always serve this with spiral noodles, but rice or potatoes would certainly go well with it too.
