Saxon potato pancakes

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 500 g quark
  • 1 egg(s)
  • Caraway seeds
  • linseed oil
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Grate the potatoes using the smallest hole on the grater. Stir in the quark, egg, caraway seeds, and salt. Mix everything well. Heat the linseed oil in a non-stick pan and fry the fritters until crispy. Serve with applesauce or simply sprinkle with sugar. Tip: We always use the same pan for Klitscher because the linseed oil sticks to the sides of the pan over time and is very difficult to remove. It’s best to wipe it off with kitchen paper after frying. The older the pan, the better it gets. I remember that from my grandmother. Note from Chefkoch.de: Linseed oil is considered a very high-quality vegetable oil because it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids are destroyed when heated to high temperatures and are partially converted into harmful trans fatty acids. The linseed oil not only loses its flavor but also its health benefits.
