semolina cake

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1 liter of milk
  • 9 tbsp semolina
  • 9 tbsp sugar
  • 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
  • 60 g margarine
  • rose water
  • Cinnamon
  • Hazelnuts or walnuts

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Bring the milk and sugar to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Add the semolina. When it has become a stiff paste, remove from the heat. Melt the margarine in it and stir in the vanilla sugar. Sprinkle a medium-sized bowl or Pyrex dish with the rose water; discard any excess. Add half of the paste. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts or hazelnuts and sprinkle with cinnamon. Then add the other half of the paste. Refrigerate for a few hours. Then turn out onto a flat plate. Sprinkle with desiccated coconut and cut like a cake. This dessert can also be made with ripe fruit instead of nuts (peaches, apricots, or bananas are very suitable). In this case, do not use the cinnamon.
