Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour (type 405)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 2 tsp basil, finely chopped
  • some garlic powder or garlic granules
  • 25 g yeast, fresh
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 6 tbsp olive oil
  • some milk for brushing
  • 200 ml water, lukewarm
  • Flour for the work surface

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes

Put the flour in a bowl and mix with the salt and spices. Make a well in the center, crumble in the yeast and mix with 200 ml of lukewarm water, the sugar and a little of the flour to make a pre-dough. Cover and let rise for about 20 minutes. Then knead the pre-dough with the remaining flour and the olive oil until you have a smooth dough and let rise for 30 minutes. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 2 cm thick and cut into 10 cm long strips. Shape the strips into 20-25 cm long rolls, place on a baking sheet and let rise, covered, for 10 minutes. Then brush with milk. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack.
