Steamed plums

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 5 kg plums, pitted, halved
  • 1 kg sugar
  • 250 g gelling sugar, 1:1
  • 4 packets of vanilla sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 13 hours

Preserving plums like grandma used to

Combine the plums and sugar in a large pot and let stand overnight. Then add the gelling sugar and vanilla sugar, bring to a boil briefly, and pour into sterilized jars (twist-off or with rubber rings). Cook in a preserving jar at 90°C for 20 minutes. It will keep for at least 1 year. Delicious with rice porridge or in sweet casseroles. It also tastes delicious if you cook a cinnamon stick with the mixture and remove it before filling.
