The perfect tender roast chicken gyros recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 800 g Fresh chicken breast / 2 whole
- 4 small Fresh onions
- 4 small Sweet paprika powder
- Ground cumin
- Onion salt
- Garlic salt
- Salt and pepper from the mill
- Seasoned salt from my KB
- Garlic pepper from my KB
- Rosemary fresh, chopped
- Fresh thyme, chopped
- Fresh oregano, chopped
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Twine
- 1 tsp Brown sugar
- Peel the onions and cut into fine rings. Heat some oil in a pan and toast the onion rings with brown sugar and a pinch of salt! Let cool down!
- Rinse the chicken with cold water, pat dry. Cut open each side of the breast with a sharp knife as far as possible! See image! Then cut in the middle so that there are 2 even pieces! A total of 4 pieces!
- Then oil the chicken a little and season with the above herbs and spices on both sides!
- Now alternate, a slice of meat then a layer of onions, meat again, etc. Then tie with string to make a roast! Let it steep in the fridge for about 1 hour!
Preheat the oven to 140 degrees!
- Brush a baking dish with a little olive oil and place the roast in it! Roast in the oven for a good hour!
- Then let it rest a little in aluminum foil, remove the string and cut it open! Schwubdiwup you have gyros sliced! 😀
- The good thing about the gyros roast is that you hardly need any oil, you don’t have a spattered kitchen and while it is smuggling in the oven, you can clean, iron, lazy, etc. 🙂
- There was also rice and tzaziki! 🙂
