How long has Nutella been around?
In the meantime, several generations have grown up with Nutella.
- The forerunner of the nut nougat spread was invented by confectioner Pietro Ferrero back in 1940, although the paste that could be cut was not called Nutella at the time, but Giandujot.
- In 1946 Pietro Ferrero then founded the Ferrero company and in 1951 made a spreadable cream from the paste – the new name was now SuperCrema.
- Finally, in 1964, the recipe was refined by Pietro’s son Michele Ferrero and was given the name Nutella.
- Just one year later, in 1965, Nutella conquered Germany. It was only another year before the spread began to conquer France as well. Nutella is now available worldwide.
