Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 onion(s), peeled and chopped
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 garlic clove(s), crushed
  • ½ liter vegetable broth, dark or water
  • 1 tsp yeast extract
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • salt and pepper

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Sauté the onions with the oil in a medium saucepan for 5 minutes, then add the flour and sauté for another 5-10 minutes, until the flour and onions are nutty brown and the onions are soft and slightly mushy. Add the garlic, sauté for 1-2 minutes, then gradually stir in the vegetable stock. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the sauce into a clean saucepan, add the yeast extract, soy sauce, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly and serve.
