Whole Grain Apple and Carrot Bread

The perfect whole grain apple and carrot bread recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 200 g Wholemeal rye flour
  • 200 g Flour
  • 1 tsp Bread spice mix
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Coarse sea salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 Yeast cubes
  • 1 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 Carrot
  • 250 ml Lukewarm water
  1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in lukewarm water. Mix the flour, rye flour, salt, cinnamon and bread spices.
  2. Add the flour mixture to the yeast solution and mix everything into a sticky dough.
  3. Grate the apples and carrots and knead them into the bread dough (it is okay to create irregularities, then the bread will end up being wonderfully juicy).
  4. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rest in a warm place for 2 hours.
  5. Dust the risen dough with a little flour, knead again and place in a loaf pan. Let go for another hour.
  6. Make a slit through the bread with the knife and brush with milk or water (for a nice crust).
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 ° C for 40 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Take it out of the oven and let it cool slightly before cutting it. This bread can also be baked and frozen in advance!
