Macaroni in tomato cream sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 1 kg pasta (macaroni or maccaroncinis)
  • 1 pack of bacon, diced
  • 200 ml cream
  • 1 pack of cream cheese spread (ham or plain)
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 500 ml water
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 4 cans of tomato paste
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 cube of vegetable stock
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Melt the butter in a large saucepan, dice the onions and sauté until translucent, add the bacon and fry for about 5 minutes, then add the flour, stir, and pour in the milk and water (roux), bring to a boil, add the tomato paste, bring to a boil, add the processed cheese and let it melt, then add the cream, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer. Season to taste with salt, pepper, sugar, and vegetable stock cube. The sauce should have a sweet touch. While the sauce is simmering, prepare the macaroni according to the package instructions. If the sauce is too thick, thin it with water or milk. It also tastes great with pasta bake with a crispy crust. Other pasta dishes will work, too, of course.
