Apple lard with marjoram

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 100 g bacon (smoked bacon)
  • 2 onions
  • 3 apples
  • 500 g lard
  • 2 tbsp marjoram, dried

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 35 minutes

delicious with fresh bread or as a gift idea, makes about 8 jars

Finely dice the bacon. Fry in a pan. Meanwhile, peel the onions. Slice half an onion into rings, finely chop the rest. Fry both with the bacon until golden brown. Remove the onion rings. Set aside. Peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. Add to the pan with the lard and heat. Reserve some marjoram for garnish, then stir the rest into the lard. Transfer to small pans and let set. Garnish with onion and marjoram.
