Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour, type 405
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 300 ml milk
  • Milk, lukewarm for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes

Mix the flour, dried yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the milk and knead thoroughly into an elastic dough. Place the dough in a bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 45 minutes, until it has doubled in size. Then punch down the dough and let it rise again for 45 minutes. Grease a 500g loaf pan, shape the dough into a long log, and place it in the loaf pan in an S shape. Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour, until the dough extends over the edges of the pan. Brush the bread with lukewarm milk and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 45 minutes, until the crust is golden brown. Let it cool on a wire rack.
