GDR tomato sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 30 g margarine
  • 30 g flour
  • 1 cube of vegetable stock, clear
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 onion(s), grated
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • 200 g sausage (diced hunting sausage)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

First, you need to make a light sauce. Dissolve the stock cube in half a liter of water. Heat the margarine over medium heat until melted. Then stir the flour into the margarine and fry it until light yellow. Slowly pour the vegetable stock into the roux so that the flour dissolves in the liquid. Let the whole thing simmer for a few minutes. Now all that’s left to do is turn the light sauce into a tomato sauce. Add the tomato paste, grated onion, a pinch of sugar, and a tablespoon of white wine vinegar. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Then add the diced Jagdwurst sausage. You can also fry it beforehand if desired. And there you have it, your GDR tomato sauce. P.S.: The light sauce is the basis for many GDR sauces.
