Hearty Pea Soup in Style of My Homeland
The perfect hearty pea soup in style of my homeland recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 250 g Dried green peas
- 200 g Bacon in one piece
- 2 Discs Pork cheek
- 2 Discs Kasseler
- 100 g Leek cut into rings
- 150 g Diced carrots
- 200 g Potato peeled freshly diced
- 200 g Sausage variety sliced to taste
- 2 piece Finely diced red onion
- 2 piece Garlic cloves finely chopped
- 1 some Butter
- 1 pinch Black pepper from the mill
- 1 pinch Sea salt from the mill
- In the first picture you can see my plate (with meat) and the last plate is that of my loved ones (as you can see without meat). She didn’t want anything from the meat and so I was allowed to eat everything by myself yeah.
- Soak the peas covered in water overnight. Bring to the boil in the soaking water. Add the bacon and let everything simmer together for 60 minutes.
- Now add the pork cheek, vegetables, potatoes and carrots, sauté the onions and garlic in butter and add to the soup. Let everything simmer again for about 30 minutes. Pour in the broth, as much as you want the soup to be thick.
- Now take out the bacon. He was only there to give off a taste. But if you like, you can also dice it and add it to the soup.
- Finally add the sausage slices and the smoked pork pork. Let everything simmer gently for another 15 while stirring and seasoning to taste.
