Homemade mulled wine

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 750 ml dry white wine
  • 750 ml rosé wine
  • 1,500 ml red wine (Bordeaux)
  • 300 g sugar
  • 1 lemon(s), untreated
  • 2 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 5 carnations
  • 2 star anise
  • ½ tsp all-spice

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 2 days; Total time approx. 2 days 15 minutes

Bring the wine to a boil with sugar, grated lemon zest, and spices. Remove the pan from the heat and let stand, covered, for 1-2 days. Strain and pour into clean bottles, just below the rim. Seal immediately. Keeps for 3-4 weeks in a cool, dark place. This quantity is sufficient for 4 750 ml bottles.
