Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 can chickpeas, 265 g weight
  • 25 g tahini
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 100 ml water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 100 g flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 tbsp black cumin seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Rinse the chickpeas in a sieve and drain well. Set aside about 1/3. Place the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, water, and eggs in a bowl. Add the crushed garlic and puree everything until smooth. Mix the flour and baking powder and stir into the egg mixture. Season the batter generously with salt, pepper, and cumin. Heat a waffle iron, greasing with a little oil if necessary. Gradually bake the batter into waffles. Sprinkle the batter with chickpeas and cumin before closing the waffle iron. Tip: The batter is ready in just a few minutes. The baking time depends on the waffle iron. This amount is enough for two people as a small meal. Serve well with a yogurt dip and tomato salsa spread on the waffles.
