Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 vanilla pod(s)
  • 1 lemon(s), (peel)
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 50 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Cinnamon, ground

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Spanish dessert

Halve the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Thinly peel the lemon. Bring the milk, pod, seeds, and lemon zest to a boil, then cover and set aside. Whisk the egg yolks, powdered sugar, and cornstarch into a light, thick cream. Strain the milk and add it while stirring. Simmer over very low heat for 15 minutes. Allow to cool, stirring occasionally. Ladle the cream into dessert bowls and chill. Sprinkle with cinnamon to serve.
