simple and quick mug cake with many variations to get creative

To make the batter for our mug cake, we’ll use either a small bowl or our mug. Gradually add all the dry ingredients to the bowl or mug and mix. The spoon you used to measure the quantities is ideal for this. Vigorously stir in the egg and milk or oil. The batter should be thick, so stirring will take a little longer. Finally, if you haven’t already done so, pour the batter into the mug and place it in the microwave. At 450 watts, it takes about 2.5 to 3 minutes, at 600 watts, about 1.5 to 2 minutes. Just check the settings of your microwave and set a time; it’s better to set it too short than too long. Don’t be alarmed if the cake collapses after “baking”; it sometimes happens. The cake would have needed a little longer, but it won’t taste any worse! The finished cake can now be decorated as desired. I personally like to use whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. In the photo, both were used – very delicious! Tip: Of course, you can modify the batter to your liking. For example, I often add a tablespoon of cocoa powder to create a chocolate cake. Or simply mix in jam, fresh fruit, chocolate pieces, or sprinkles. The sky’s the limit; just experiment and find what you like best!
