Port wine – plum compote

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 750 g plum(s)
  • 250 ml port wine
  • 250 ml water
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 tsp, heaped spice mix for plum jam
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Bring the washed and pitted fruit (firm fruit is best) to a boil with the port wine, water, sugar, and plum jam spice mix, then simmer for 2-3 minutes. Stir the cornstarch with a little water until smooth and thicken the compote. If you prefer a creamier consistency, add more cornstarch. The compote is delicious served hot or cold as an accompaniment to vanilla, cinnamon, or chocolate ice cream. It also goes well with many other desserts.
