Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 50 g sugar
  • 70 g butter, soft
  • 70 g raisins
  • 120 ml milk
  • 60 g sour cream
  • Flour for the hands

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Scottish tea buns

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Mix the flour with baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Then add the butter in pieces and knead as if making crumble. Then add the raisins (you can omit them), milk, and sour cream, and knead the dough, preferably by hand. Add enough flour until the dough is barely sticky (this can be quite a bit, but don’t be surprised, it’s normal). With floured hands, form balls (about 5 cm in diameter), place them on a baking sheet, and flatten them so they are about 2 cm thick. You can also form a log and cut slices of the same size. Let stand for 10 minutes, then place in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes. Then let it cool briefly and, while still warm, spread with whipped cream, mascarpone, cream cheese, or butter and jam, and enjoy. Or serve traditionally with clotted cream and jam.
