Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1 kg sausage (hunting sausage) in one piece
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 large bottle(s) of ketchup (e.g. Hot Ketchup)
  • 3 liters of water
  • roux, light
  • possibly salt and pepper
  • possibly paprika powder
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

with hunting sausage and onions

Cut the sausage into small cubes and fry in a little oil. Dice the onions and add them a little later, frying gently, but don’t let them get too brown. Then add the bottle of ketchup and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour in the water and cook the sauce for 30-45 minutes. Thicken with a roux. If using mild ketchup, season with salt, pepper, and paprika if desired. Hot ketchup doesn’t require any seasoning.
