Tropical Fruit Salad
The perfect tropical fruit salad recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 Granny Smith apples
- 1 Pears fresh
- 1 Blood oranges
- 1 Carambola
- 1 Can Unsweetened peaches
- 1 Can Diced pineapple
- 1 Can Papaya
- 1 Can Lychees
- 1 Fresh mango
- 1 Bananas
- 200 g Red grapes
- 250 ml Passion fruit juice
- 200 ml Sparkling wine
- 3 tbsp Rum
- 1 Vanilla pod
- 1 tbsp Honey
- Grated lemon peel
- Grated orange peel
- Marinade: Mix passion fruit juice, sparkling wine and rum. Scrape out the vanilla pod and add. Add 1 tbsp honey and the grated zest of half a lemon and a whole orange. Now peel the fruit and cut into small pieces (dice, strip as you like). Drain the canned fruit in a colander (and add a little of the juice to the marinade – saves the sugar). Mix everything together and season to taste (add a little lemon juice if it’s too sweet). Finally, decorate with the cut carambola (star fruit). I like to serve it on New Year’s Eve, because the sparkling wine makes it reminiscent of a fruit punch, but it also works great as a dessert and is very popular with my family and friends!
