unusually ingenious, this jam is addictive!

Wash the plums, halve them, remove the stones, and cut them into 1 cm cubes. Wash, quarter, and core the apples. Cut the quarters into 1/2 cm cubes. Weigh out a total of 1 kg of plums and diced apples and mix with the sugar and citric acid in a large saucepan. Let the juice draw off. Bring the fruit mixture to a boil while stirring and simmer over medium heat for at least 3 minutes. Test for settling and skim off the jam if necessary. Immediately pour the jam into clean twist-off jars while still hot.
